Privacy Notice & Terms of Use

Part A — Privacy Notice
1. Who we are
What's In My Fridge! ("WIMF", "we", "us") is a personal cooking assistant that suggests recipes based on what's in your fridge. This site and the alpha app are operated by Alexandre Sanmartin, based in Stockholm, Sweden. For any privacy question, contact tellme@wimf.app. We are the data controller for the personal data described below.
2. What we collect and why
a) Waitlist (this landing page)
- Email address — so we can send you the private alpha link and occasional product updates.
- Basic analytics — pages viewed, approximate region, device/browser type, and how you interact with the page, so we can improve it.
- Legal basis (GDPR Art. 6): your consent, given by submitting the form and accepting cookies.
b) The alpha app (once you join)
- Account data: email, name (or the name from your Google sign-in).
- Fridge & cooking data: items you add or scan, shopping lists, saved recipes, meal plans, and messages you send the assistant.
- Preferences: diet, allergies, taste and household settings that you choose to enter. Allergy and dietary information may be considered sensitive data (GDPR Art. 9); we process it only to filter recipes for you, on the basis of your explicit consent, and you can remove it any time in Settings.
- Photos: when you scan your fridge, the image is sent to our AI provider to identify food items and is not stored by us after processing.
3. Who we share it with (processors)
We don't sell your data. We use trusted providers to run the service:
| Provider | Purpose | Region |
|---|---|---|
| Netlify | Hosting the landing page | US |
| Mailchimp (Intuit) | Waitlist emails | US (Standard Contractual Clauses) |
| PostHog | Product analytics | EU (Frankfurt) |
| Supabase | App database & authentication | EU |
| Google Gemini | AI recipe & image analysis | US (Standard Contractual Clauses) |
| Google (Sign-in) | Optional Google login | US |
Each provider processes data only on our instructions under a data-processing agreement.
4. International transfers
Some providers are in the US. Where personal data leaves the EU/EEA, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses and each provider's safeguards.
5. How long we keep it
- Waitlist email: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, or until we retire the waitlist.
- App data: while your account is active. You can delete your account and data any time from Settings; we then remove it within 30 days, except where we must retain records by law.
6. Your rights (GDPR)
You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, and port your data, and to withdraw consent at any time (this doesn't affect processing already done). Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link. To exercise any right, email tellme@wimf.app. You may also complain to your data-protection authority (in Sweden, the IMY).
7. Cookies
- Essential storage to remember your cookie choice and keep the page working.
- Analytics (PostHog) to understand usage — loaded only if you accept.
You can accept or decline via the cookie banner, and change your mind by clearing site data.
8. Children
WIMF is not directed at children under 16. We don't knowingly collect their data.
9. Changes
We may update this notice; we'll post the new date here and, for material changes, notify waitlist subscribers by email.
Part B — Terms of Use (Waitlist & Alpha)
1. The service
WIMF is provided by Alexandre Sanmartin. By joining the waitlist or using the alpha, you agree to these terms.
2. Alpha / pre-release
The alpha is an early, evolving preview provided "as is" and "as available." It may contain bugs, change, or be paused or discontinued at any time. Features and any future pricing are not final.
3. ⚠️ Food, allergy & health disclaimer (important)
WIMF uses AI to suggest and adapt recipes. AI can make mistakes. Recipe suggestions, ingredient swaps, and allergy/diet filtering are for convenience only and are not guaranteed to be accurate, complete, or safe.
- Always check ingredients and labels yourself, especially if you or anyone you cook for has a food allergy, intolerance, or medical condition.
- Do not rely on WIMF as the sole source for allergy-safe or medically-appropriate meals.
- WIMF is not a source of medical, nutritional, or dietary advice. Consult a qualified professional for those.
You are responsible for the safe handling, preparation, and consumption of food.
4. Your account & conduct
Keep your login secure. Don't misuse the service, attempt to break its security, or upload unlawful content. You're responsible for activity under your account.
5. Your content
You keep ownership of the content you add (fridge items, lists, messages). You grant us a limited licence to process it to provide the service (e.g. sending a scan image to our AI provider to identify food).
6. Intellectual property
The WIMF name, app, and content (excluding your data) belong to us. Recipe data may be sourced or generated; it is provided for personal, non-commercial use.
7. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for any harm arising from reliance on AI-generated recipe or allergy information. Nothing limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
8. Termination
You can leave the waitlist or delete your account anytime. We may suspend access for misuse or to protect the service.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Sweden, and disputes are subject to its courts, unless mandatory local law says otherwise.
